Brazilian students offer
SOLIDARITY TO HAITI
HAITI NEED AID, NOT MILITARY OCCUPATION!

On January 12 an earthquake of gigantic proportions struck Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world. Leaving about two hundred thousand people dead, the recent earthquake has highlighted the extreme poverty and intense exploitation, the product of imperialist policy that has dragged on for two centuries in this country.

Given this situation, the FREE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF STUDENTS (ANEL / Assembleia Nacional de Estudantes – Livre, in portuguese) in solidarity to the Haitian people against the place and adds to the struggle for the withdrawal of U.S. military intervention, Brazil and the United Nations of the country for five years served to repress the Haitian people and did nothing to improve the country, as demonstrated by recent events: the infrastructure is poor, lacking basic services rescue, there is no health system to treat the wounded and provide medicines and primary care emergency room, the camps are improvised by the people .

The ANEL, in a short time of existence, was able to hold its 1st National Assembly, and State Assemblies in several states from north to south, helping to give life to the militant student movement, without the linking to the government and bureaucratization of UNE (National Union of Students).

In this sense, we essentially build a student movement committed to the struggles of the Brazilian people and the world. It is in this context that we invite all present in this World Social Forum of Bahia to discuss this issue by helping to build independently on a major campaign for the withdrawal of Brazilian troops and occupation forces from Haiti and solidarity with the Haitian people!
